The Duke of Groovy Toad turned heads in London yesterday when he mistakenly ordered a Lyft ride to Buckingham Palace.
Eye-witnesses report that the royal was standing outside the palace gates when he announced to a group of onlookers that he was "finna order his Lyft" and quickly proceeded to summon the ride-sharing service.
After a short wait, a silver sedan pulled up to the gates of Buckingham Palace, much to the surprise of the palace guards and visitors alike. Upon realizing his mistake, the Duke reportedly apologized to the driver and asked to be taken to his intended destination, a nearby pub frequented by members of the royal family.
While Her Majesty the Queen was not present at the time, palace insiders report that she was in good spirits upon hearing the news and found the whole ordeal to be quite amusing.
The Duke, known for his eccentric behavior and love of all things "groovy", has yet to comment publicly on the incident. However, sources close to the royal say that he plans to switch to a more traditional mode of transportation in the future, in order to avoid any further embarrassment.
In a statement released later that day, Lyft said they were "honored" to have been chosen by the Duke of Groovy Toad, and that they were "committed to providing safe, reliable transportation to all members of the royal family."
Despite the mishap, royal watchers say that the Duke's adventurous spirit and sense of humor only endear him further to the public, and that he will continue to be a beloved and eccentric figure in the royal family for years to come.
