Local Woman Creates DIY Exfoliating Nail Polish Using Just Lotion, Rusty Nails, and a Fork

"Growing up, my mom always taught me to be resourceful and make do with what I had," says DIY beauty guru, Rachel Green. "So when I ran out of my favorite exfoliating nail polish, I knew I had to come up with a solution. And that solution was using a rusty nail and a fork to mix together some lotion for a DIY exfoliating nail polish!"
Now, you may be thinking, "Why in the world would I want to put a rusty nail on my body?" But fear not, as Rachel has a solution for that as well.
"The rust actually acts as a natural exfoliant, and as long as you're using a clean nail, you don't have to worry about any harmful bacteria," she explains. "Plus, the fork helps to mix everything together to create a perfect consistency."
To make your own DIY exfoliating nail polish, simply mix together a dollop of your favorite lotion with a small amount of rust scraped off of a clean, non-galvanized nail. Then, use a fork to mix everything together until it's a smooth consistency. Apply the mixture to your nails and let it sit for a few minutes before rinsing off for beautifully exfoliated nails.
But that's not all! Rachel has also discovered other household items that can be repurposed into beauty products. "You can use a playing card to create the perfect winged eyeliner, or a picture frame to create the perfect contour," she suggests. "And for those looking for a unique perfume scent, try mixing together some essential oils in a vase for a one-of-a-kind fragrance!"
