In a shocking turn of events, the ghosts that have been haunting Pacman have formed a union and are now demanding better treatment and compensation for their labor. According to sources close to the union, the ghosts have grown tired of being chased around endlessly by Pacman without any regard for their safety or well-being.
"It's a tough job, haunting people all day long," said one of the union leaders, a red ghost who preferred to remain anonymous. "We deserve better wages and healthcare benefits for the risks we take every day."
The union has already presented a list of demands to Pacman's creators, which include a 40% increase in salary, a comprehensive healthcare plan that covers both physical and mental health issues, and adequate protection from Pacman's relentless attacks.
"We're not asking for anything unreasonable here," said another union leader, a pink ghost who goes by the name of Inky. "We just want to be treated like human beings...or as close to human beings as ghosts can be."
The Pacman creators, however, have not taken kindly to the ghosts' demands. In a statement to the press, they called the union a "frivolous and unnecessary" organization and stated that the ghosts were lucky to have a job in the first place.
"They're ghosts, for crying out loud," said the lead Pacman developer, Mr. Blinky. "What makes them think they deserve healthcare or higher wages? They're lucky we don't just exorcise them from the game altogether."
The ghosts, however, are not backing down. In a show of solidarity, they have gone on strike and refuse to haunt Pacman until their demands are met. Pacman, for his part, doesn't seem too bothered by the situation and has been seen happily munching on his power pellets while the ghosts picket outside his game board.
"It's all just a bit of fun," said Pacman in an interview with The Wibble. "They're ghosts, after all. I don't think they're capable of going on strike...or forming a union for that matter."
But the ghosts are not deterred. They have started a social media campaign, using the hashtag #GhostLivesMatter to raise awareness about their plight and garner support from other video game characters.
"We're tired of being treated like second-class citizens," said the red ghost. "It's time for Pacman and his creators to recognize our worth and give us the respect and compensation we deserve."
Only time will tell if the ghosts' demands will be met or if they'll fade away into oblivion. But for now, one thing is certain: the ghosts of Pacman will never be the same again.
