Football fans around the world are in shock as Wilhelm III, a self-proclaimed Celtic fan, has come forward and admitted to borrowing the club's 10th Champions League trophy. The trophy, which was won in the 1960-61 season, has been missing for over five years, and many believed it was lost or stolen.
In an exclusive interview with The Wibble, Wilhelm claimed that he had been entrusted with the trophy by a club official, who had asked him to keep it safe while the team went through a difficult time. According to Wilhelm, he had kept the trophy hidden away in a secure location, but had always intended to return it to the club.
"I never meant to keep the trophy for so long," Wilhelm told us. "But every time I tried to return it, something would come up, and I would have to keep it safe for a little longer. I never meant to cause any harm, and I hope the fans can forgive me."
However, Celtic fans are not convinced by Wilhelm's claims, and many are demanding that the trophy be returned immediately. The club has also issued a statement, saying that they have no knowledge of Wilhelm's claims and that they are working with the authorities to recover the trophy.
"We take the theft of our trophies very seriously, and we will do everything in our power to recover the trophy and bring those responsible to justice," the statement read.
Wilhelm, however, remains defiant and says that he will only return the trophy if certain conditions are met.
"I want to make sure that the trophy is going to be kept safe and that it will be properly displayed for all the fans to see," he said. "I also want to make sure that I am properly compensated for all the trouble I have gone through."
Celtic fans are outraged by Wilhelm's demands, and many are calling for a boycott of the games until the trophy is returned.
"This is a disgusting display of disrespect for our club and our history," one fan told us. "We will not rest until the trophy is back where it belongs."
As for Wilhelm, he says that he is prepared to face the consequences of his actions and that he will do everything in his power to make things right.
"I know that I made a mistake by borrowing the trophy without permission, and I am willing to make it up to the club and the fans," he said. "I just hope that they can find it in their hearts to forgive me."
